SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS
The Rosemary Foundation supports the following types of activities provided by the Alzheimer’s Association for individuals and families with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders.
> Free counselling support for any person affected by concerns over memory disorders and caring for someone with a memory disorder, whether themselves or someone they know; provided by phone and as in-home visiting services
> Free information service on any aspect of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia and the behavioural effects of dementia
> Training for health care professionals who are working with people with dementia
> Carer education courses for people caring for someone with a memory disorder
> Information Sessions
> Specific services, information and training for people from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds
> Regional Coordinators to provide information and access to services in regional areas
> Training, information and awareness for indigenous people
> Discussion groups for people with an early diagnosis of dementia
> Specialised support for carers groups with a special need, such as male carers, adolescent/young adult carers, and carers isolated by distance
> Support groups for carers including day and weekend retreats for carers
> Advocacy and lobbying on dementia and dementia care issues
