New Research on Anti-inflammatory Medications and Alzheimer’s Disease

Refecoxib and Naproxen do not slow decline in mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease according to this new research. They are anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), a type of drug that includes aspirin and ibuprofen and is commonly used to treat pain, inflammation and fever.

Observational studies have shown that groups of people who take large doses of NSAIDs for conditions such as arthritis may have a reduced likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
